Resident Evil: Extinction
I got this shirt for free, a promo item.
During comic-con a few years back, someone was handing out these shirts and hats on the street right outside the convention center. As far as I know, you can only get them from handouts like that when they were promoting the movie.
This is a really traditional giveaway shirt. The same kind of not to thin or flimsy but not very hearty or heavy material. It's just nice enough that you don't outright think it's crappy. Since these were given out to anyone who passed by they were made in the standard comic-con size -extra large-. It feels like it has shrunk since then though because it doesn't feel like some of the other x-large shirts I have. There's one color screened on the front and nothing on the back. The ink held up pretty well though.
This shirt is no-nonsense. It says "Resident Evil: Extinction" in their probably trademarked font. At the time, it was the name of their newest movie in the franchise of video game to movie adaptations. The movies star Milla Jovovitch and, while deviating from the video game plot, are pretty good action movies overall. I would say that the color ink they chose represents the creepy, dead, and desert moods of the film well -if that is even possible-.
I'll pull this out if I know I'm meeting up with a Resident Evil fan or someone who knows that this shirt is rare from Comic Con. Other than that, it's just a nice gamer shirt. It can make a great conversation segue into video game to movie adaptations and movies in general. I've played a few -not all- of the Resident Evil games so I feel like I can hold a decent conversation about it. At least a good enough conversation to solicit it.
When I got these we were just leaving Comic Con that year. Someone was standing almost in the middle of the street handing these out. When something like that happens you really just say you want one and take whatever they're giving out free. That moment I even put it on over my regular shirt on the spot, with the hat. For stuff like this I tend to get unnecessarily excited about whatever the thing is because I want to have a reason to talk about the free swag I've gotten. I mean, I ended up going to this movie when it came out and dollars to doughnuts I wore the shirt and hat there. With so much garbage coming out, I say, it's a guilty pleasure to nerd right the fuck out on something from time to time!

I have this set too! =D Though my means of acquisition were from a wrap party I worked security for at a bowling alley.
ReplyDeleteHah, awesome. Maybe it's not as rare as I had previously thought! A least the movie was passable, I think I'll just stick with the games xD
