FINAL FANTASY XI

This was another leftover from work. Got it free after a quick email went out.
For some reason they had a bunch of FanFestival 2007 merchandise left over. I would imagine that you could have gotten one of these if you worked there during the convention or maybe were around the office during that time. I was there in 2008 but this predated me at the company. A few other people around the office got these too but I would imagine you would be hard pressed to find one outside of the staff.
The fabric and the ink on this shirt are fine. Nothing special, nothing amazing, they'll do. The print on the front is all in white and is screened on. To be honest, I expect the text to start breaking and cracking after 5 or so washes. Beggars can't be choosers I suppose but this shirt is a large, like, a big large. I really like brightly colored shirts and welcome them in my lineup.
All the way down the left side it says "FINAL FANTASY XI", all caps, in white. On the back it has the famous crystal that they use for most of the Final Fantasies. They could have printed the crystal in 4 color but they decided to do it in 3 screens, grey, black and white. Below the crystal it says "Fan Festival 2007". FINAL FANTASY XI is Square Enix's premier MMORPG from like 7 years ago. The Fan Festival brings in the best of the best from all over Vana'diel. SQEX hasn't held one for a few years now, but back when the fan base was booming you couldn't meet a more hardcore group anywhere else.
I would just add this one to my gaming shirt collection. It fits into a couple categories for me: Square Enix, bright colors, MMORPGs, video games, and umm... giveaway shirts. I try not to wear this when I go to work because pretty much everyone on the floor has one. I'd love to wear this at another Fan Festival but I doubt that is coming anytime soon. Basically, this ends up in my regular round of shirts. I hope to one day meet an FFXI player when wearing this and they'll be like, "NO WAY! Do you play?" and I'd have to say, "No, not anymore, that was a long time ago." We can have a rousing conversation about the game and maybe what's happening with FINAL FANTASY XIV.

Unfortunately, I don't have any particularly fond memories of FINAL FANTASY XI. It kind of came and went in passing while we were in High School. I think it was in the time just after I started on EverQuest and got bored with it. I took a break to play this with Greg and Mike, we started on Valefore with our friend Steve who already had and established Taru Taru. We got to about level 20, started on our sub-jobs and quit the next day to go back to Everquest and really never looked back.
