CCCP

Moke gave me this the other day. No special occasion, he's trying to keep up the blog and weed out his tshirt collection. And I'm grateful to reap the rewards.
He originally bought it online. I didn't catch what website it was from, he chose then because they were having a sale. Under normal circumstances this would be a cause for celebration but he was misled! They said that their shirts were on the small side and if you wore a medium you should buy a large instead. Well, he bought a large alright, and unfortunately it was huge -those bastards-.
This shirt and the next one will be large. That's not okay for Moke but if you've been reading this blog you know that I really don't care about my shirt size. I adore the quality of this shirt, if it was a medium on a rack somewhere I might even pick it up myself. The color is amazing, a bright red, not like my others though, it's closer to yellow or orange, and vibrant! The ink is very simple and clear on the chest, one color and brand new.
I love this design, it's hard to screw up. As is customary of any communist throwback design, bold red and yellow rule this tee. There is nothing on the back or the sleeves, the revolution is on the front. At the top is the legendary hammer and sickle. The designer chose to leave out any details or texture, leaving an iconic symbol of a fallen empire. Below that it says "CCCP", an acronym for "Союз Совецких Сочиалистических Республик" which stands for Union Soviet Socialist Republics -USSR- (Thanks Andrei!). That's the literal translation. Communism works, in theory... It's just that some are more equal than others.
This shirt, or any like it, are merely a uniform for "open minded" "free thinkers". Cool kids pick these up to align themselves with these ideas. The problem that most people seem to have with this practice is that posers in the US would never and will never know what it really means to live in a communist state. The struggle, hard times, self sacrifice and corruption. If you wear one of these you had better be ready to defend your hammer and sickle. Study up on your Marx and Engels.

Everyone knows this symbol, at least they should. I don't want to have to facepalm really hard and have to explain it from start to finish. I know that's a mite pretentious but come on! You could have seen it in Goldeneye the movie OR the game, or most of the other Bond movies for that matter. You'd have to be young and dumb or a combination of the two in order to be unaware of the red menace. Honestly, I'm in it for the graphics, I love me some soviet propaganda posters.
