Turok

The last of the GameStop shirts. These were all from Moke who graciously gave them to me in a plastic shopping bag.
Moke was able to collect a whole bunch of shirts over a long period of time -mostly due to inactivity- which kept the shirts in great condition. They sat in some drawer just waiting for an opportunity like this one to present itself. The shirts he's provided for me have extended the blog almost a month and they are just about gone now. This shirt in particular was probably from GameStop because A) that's where most of the other ones have been coming from and B) the only other place he would have gotten it from would be E3 and I couldn't see him giving that merch away very easily. So while this shirt is rare, it's not necessarily sought after.
Of course I love the layout of this shirt. I keep saying black with white ink is the way to go for a really visible and cool design. I'm not thrilled with its size -large- but with a black shirt it can be difficult to tell that it doesn't fit me just right. Of course I'll take almost shirt that's free but I adore video game reference shirts so this one is a big plus for me.
There aren't many elements to the design so this should be quick. On the front is the main logo for the game, it says "Turok". The font is very distinct with rough/worn edges and a bold industrial/tech influence. On the back right shoulder it has a three inch thick line of paint that goes about halfway down. The line is not quite war paint, think more like colors that you would put on a tank or down the side of a gun to indicate which side you're on. At the bottom of the stripe it has the letter "T" for Turok.
This shirt was made to coincide with the release of the 2008 game "Turok". It is a quasi-reboot of the video game series from back on the Nintendo 64. Hopefully the people who played it back then appreciate the reference and maybe pick up the new game. To be honest the new game has got nothing on the old one but at least they tried. Now what some people don't know about Turok is that he originally started in comic book form back in the mid 50s and was reprinted all the way up to present.

From the logo and currency of Turok most people think that this is from the new game -because it is-. I don't love it but I have enough respect for the the franchise to rock this.  If someone is like, "F-yeah Turok, that 360 game was cool!" they get a bronze star. "F-yeah, the N64 game" gets you silver. And "F-yeah the comic books" gets you a big fat gold one. The real unicorn recognition for this shirt is the kid who got named Turok as a baby for a contest they were holding back in the day. If you were the first one to legally name your child Turok you would win $10,000. Having that kid come up and high five you in this shirt would be the best full circle ever.
